Seasons & Weather

Next week we are celebrating reading wtih a WACKY WEEK!

*Monday- wear comfy clothes

*Tuesday- Bring a gently used book to swap.

*Wednesday- Wear clothes inside out, backwards and mismatched.

*Thursday- Crazy sock day

*Friday- Free popcorn day

We finished up our Seasons and Weather unit this week by reading the fable "The Grasshopper and the Ants" and two non-fiction read alouds about storm safety and meteology. Next week we will begin a new unit about Columbus and the Pilgrims.

In math the students continued to work on comparing sets. The big idea of this unit is that students will explore comparing and combining sets up to 20. This week a big part of our focus was combining sets up to 10. We did a lot of this work hands-on. It takes a lot a lot of practice to begin combining sets to help students become confident in finding a total. For example when we combine a set we might say "Five and two makes seven". The students worked a lot with a number line and practiced counting on.

In skills we learned the sounds: ng and qu. We also learned the new tricky words "in" and "out". We practiced these skills when we read the story "Seth". A copy of this story is in your child's folder. Please have them read this to you at home.

Mark your calendar- Fun Night is Friday, April 12th. It is a fun event for the whole family! Each grade level creates a gift basket to be auctioned off. Kindergarten's theme is "Take Time for Yourself". Please send in donations to add to our basket. Some ideas might include: beauty masks, bath stuff, nail care, essential oils. Fun Night is a big fundraiser for our school. Money from this fundraiser goes towards playground equipment, school activities, and supplies that enhance our school and the students learning. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT HAS SENT IN DONATIONS!

Upcoming events:
