Late Start Mondays are Cancelled
Just a reminder- Late Start Mondays have been cancelled for the remainder of the school year. School will start at its regular time on Monday.
We made it the whole week with no cancellations! It is hard on small kids when routines are disrupted, but these kiddos have been doing great. I love watching them help each other by giving gentle reminders to their peers.
In math we began our unit on numbers to 100. The big idea of this unit is for students to explore numbers up to 100 and learn how to skip count by 2's, 5's, and 10's. This week the students were introduced to counting by 2's and 5's. We have discussed when it is smart to count to skip count and when we should count by ones.
In literacy we are continuing to learn about Kings and Queens. This week we read "The Princess and the Pea", "Cinderella", and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". The kids loved listening to all three of these stories. We watched the movie "Cinderella" and compared how it was the same and different from the story that we read. Next week we will begin a new unit on Seasons and Weather. If you have anything that you think you can add to this unit please let me know. We love having visitors help enhance our learning.
Just a reminder: Family Board Game Night is Thursday, February 28th from 5:30 to 7:00. This will be a fun night for the whole family. Pizza will be served at 5:30. Each family that attends will get a board game to take home. Information came home this week in your child's folder. Mrs. O and myself will be helping with child care. We will help watch younger kids so you can play with your school age kids. It is going to be a lot of fun! I can't wait to see everyone there.
