Fire Safety Week

JUST A REMINDER- MONDAY IS LATE START. SCHOOL WILL BEGIN AT 10:05

It was so nice meeting with so many of you last night at Parent Teacher Conferences. I loved being able to talk with you and show you the progress that your child has made in the first month of school. I appreciate the partnership that we have to help the students grow. If you were unable to attend please let me know a day next week that we can meet before or after school.

The Cherry Grove Fire Department visited our school for Fire Safety week. They did a great job talking to the kids about what to do if they see matches, showed them some of their trucks and gear, and put on their mask so the kids would know what they sound like. Please talk to your child at home about where your family would meet outside if there was a fire.

This week in literacy we learned about the sense of touch. The kids took turns describing different textures (bumpy, smooth, rough, cold, warm) of objects. We took advantage of the warm weather and went on a five senses walk on the nature trail- we are so fortunate to have this at our school. We used our sense of smell and touch, listened for sounds, and looked for leaves and other treasures. We wrapped up the week by investigating pumpkins. The kids had a great time exploring with their senses. Next week we will learn about Ray Charles and Helen Keller and wrap up our Five Senses unit.

Next week in math we will begin to focus on numbers 0 to 10. The kids are showing a lot of growth with their numbers 0 to 5. Thank you for taking the time at home to review what we are learning.

Important Dates to Remember:

October 15- Late Start

November 2- No School: Teacher In-Service

**We are in need of envelpes to add to our writing center. If you would like to donate a box we would be so thankful. The envelopes will allow students to write notes and send them to their friends.

Thank you for all of your support! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!

Jessica
