Exploring with our Senses

We had a great week! It has only been a month, but the kids are doing so well with the routines of school. You would be proud of them and how hard each of them are working. They are a great group of kids!

We have been having a lot of fun learning about our five senses. So far we have learned about the sense of hearing, taste, smell, and seeing. We are learning how each sense helps to keep us safe and how each sense works. This summer I recieved a grant through donors choose to expand our science center. We recieved a light table, microscope, light paddles, microscopes, kindles, and so much more. This has been a fun place for students to go to investigate what we are learning.

On Friday of next week we will be doing a pumpkin investigation using our five senses. I would love to have three volunteers help us with this project. If you would like to help please send me an email.

This week we began practicing recognizing and writing our name- first letter capital followed by lowercase letters. We practiced our name many different ways. We painted our names, used stickers to trace the letters, ripped paper to trace the letters, made our names out of playdough, and practiced with dry erase markers. In your child's folder you will find a letter with some name building activities that you can practice with your child at home.

We started a new unit in math focusing on sorting and matching objects. We are also continuing to work on recognizing, writing, and counting 0 to 5. The math vocabulary that we learned is same and different.

Cassin is this weeks Star Student. He works hard and never gives up. Way to go, Cassin!

Parent Teacher Conferences are next Thursday, October 11th. School will be dismissed at 12:10. If you are unable to make it, please let me know so we can reschedule.
