Go Vikings!
We had a lot of fun celebrating Homecoming this week by dressing up for the spirit days and getting to watch the magician. The kids loved the assebly so much that many of them told me that they really want to be magicians too!:)
Please consider joining us tonight to watch the parade with your family from the designated Forest View area. It will be located across from the skate park. Look for the roped off area with balloons. It is a great way to get to know some of the families from our school.
This week we met our goal of building our reading stamina! The kids were so proud of themselves! Next week I will continue to teach them about Daily five by introducing "word work" and "listen to reading". The students will also start practicing rotating from one station to the next.
In math we are wrapping up our unit of recognizing, counting, identifying, and writing our numbers 0 to 5. In math we play a lot of hands-on math games with partners. This week the kids played number line-up with a partner. The kids love it!
We finished the week off learning about Fables. The kids learned that fables are short stories where the characters are usually animals and there is a moral or a lesson to be learned. The kids enjoyed the three fables that we listened to: "The Dog and His Reflection", "The Tortoise and the Hare", and "The Lion and the Mouse". They did really well retelling the stories using their picture cards and were excited to retell them to you. Next week we will begin a new unit on the five senses.
Brandt is this weeks Star Student. He is a great friend to his peers. Great job Brant!
