Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall...
This coming Monday, September, 24th is late start. School will start at 10:05. Breakfast will still be available, but students will come in and eat it in the cafeteria.
We had a lot of fun completing our egg drop stem project to go along with the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty. The kids boxes were so creative. I could tell a lot of thought was put into them. Although Humpty Dumpty cracked the eggs in our class did not! The kids loved this project! Click on the pictures below to see the full picture.
Next week, we will begin learning about fables. The kids have enjoyed listening and learning about nursery rhymes.
In math we are working on counting, recognizing, identifying, and writing the numbers zero to five. Our math may seem to start slow, but it is really good for helping students build a solid number base and math foundation. We do a lot of hands-on activities in math and finish the lesson by practicing independantly. Sometimes your child may not finish their independant work and will bring home their worksheet half finished. I would like to ask that you look over it with your child and help them to complete it at home. This will help you to get a better understanding of what they are working on in class.
In Skills we continued to practice writing strokes (horizontal, vertical, and diagnal lines). The students are also working on counting words in a sentence. This can be tricky for students, but an important skill in helping students eventually hear individual sounds in words. We will continue to work on this skill in class.
Next week is Homecoming week. Forest View's theme is Charlie Brown. The following are the spirit days that the students can participate in:
Monday- Bring your favorite stuffed animal (please make sure this fits in your child's backpack)
Tuesday- Comfy Day
Wednesday- Sports/College Day
Thursday- Hat Day
Friday- Wear your blue Forest View STAR shirt
School will be dismissed one hour early on Friday so that families can participate in the homecoming parade. Please consider coming to the roped off area across from the skate park. It is a great way to mingle and get to know some of the families of Forest View.
I hope you are having a great weekend! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
